Giant’s A+ School Rewards Program Kicks off 2015 with ‘Fighting Hunger Challenge’

Participating Schools to Host Food Drives for Food Banks, Pantries and Soup Kitchens

Landover, Md. (January 7, 2015) – To help provide hunger relief to those in need, Giant Food is kicking off the new year with the launch of its A+ School Rewards Fighting Hunger Challenge, a contest calling on schools to host food drives benefitting local food banks, pantries, and soup kitchens. The schools that construct the best creative displays utilizing the donated goods will be awarded an extra $1,000 added to their year-end A+ Rewards earnings.

The challenge runs from January 1, 2015 to February 13, 2015 and is open to ALL schools (public or private) in Washington, D.C., Maryland, Virginia and Delaware that are currently registered in the A+ School Rewards Program. Details can be found at www.giantfood.com/savings-and-rewards/rewards-program/aplus/contest.

“Giant is proud to fight hunger and support education in our communities, and we do so with the help of our customers who participate in our food drive initiatives and A+ School Rewards program,” said Jamie Miller, Manager of Public and Community Relations, Giant Food. “The Fighting Hunger Challenge combines our support of neighbors in need and our local schools, and we look forward to once again joining forces with the communities we are privileged to serve to make a difference.”
