  • 1 Tablespoon canola oil, divided
  • 8 oz. sliced mushrooms
  • 1 cup sliced onion
  • 1 lb. beef round cube steaks, sliced into strips
  • 1/8 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 can (28 oz.) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning
  • 4 oz. pasta

  1. Heat 1/2 teaspoon oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add half of the mushrooms to the skillet and sauté until lightly browned and remove from skillet. Sauté remaining mushrooms and remove.
  2. Sauté onions and remove.
  3. Sprinkle steak strips with garlic powder. Add remaining oil to skillet and brown steaks on both sides.
  4. Add tomatoes, the sautéed mushrooms and onions, and oregano. Simmer 30 minutes or until meat is tender.
  5. Meanwhile, cook pasta according to package directions, omitting salt. Serve meat and sauce over cooked pasta.
