Diversity & Inclusion

Everyone brings unique contributions and experiences to their job, and we value that. Because we know the diversity of our associates is one of our greatest strengths, we maintain an open atmosphere in which all are welcome.

We welcome what you bring to Giant Food—your values, your perspectives, and your beliefs. Inclusion is a way of life for us and it helps us to better support our customers, communities and associates. Though it makes good business sense, we do it because it’s simply the right thing to do.

Inclusion is a core expectation of our leaders. They’re open and accessible to everyone in the company.

Open & Engaged

All of us are involved in the discussions and activities that matter to Giant Food. Through annual engagement surveys, Business Resource Groups, diversity and inclusion focus groups, associate councils and an open work environment, we create space to express ideas, thoughts and perspectives.

Business Resource Groups

Our Business Resource Groups drive diversity and inclusion. With executive sponsorship, these associate-led groups drive strategic initiatives, foster internal and external engagement and promote professional development.

Women Adding Value (WAV) focuses on professional networking, industry exposure, and organization development by leveraging the experiences and insights of women by partnering with like-minded organizations that empower women.

Young Professionals (YoPro) creates a community that draws on the insights and experiences of young professionals and Millennials to bolster business needs, professional development and community outreach.

Veterans celebrates and supports the contributions of military veterans and their families. This group focuses on community outreach and fundraising by working with the USO and Hiring Our Heroes to transition veterans to civilian life. Giant Food’s partnership with USO has raised millions of dollars for the organization.

PRIDE focuses on awareness, education and understanding of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Questioning (LGBTQ+) community. The PRIDE BRG aspires to provide an inclusive and welcoming environment to work and shop for the LGBTQ+ community.
