Hot & cold therapy should not be used by individuals who are sensitive to temperature extremes, such as those with circulatory problems, diabetes, nerve damage, paralysis or sensitive skin. Unattended use of hot & cold gel packs by children or incapacitated persons may be dangerous. Adult supervision is required. If the contents of the gel pack contacts eyes, skin or clothing, wash with warm water. If any redness or irritation persists, consult a physician. If contents are swallowed, give one or two glasses of water and induce vomiting, consult a physician.

Cooling instructions: Freezer method: 1. Remove the gel pack from the stuffed animal using the opening/closure on the back side of the stuffed animal. 2. Place Gel Pack flat in freezer for at least 2 hours for the first time use (for repeat treatments place pack in freezer for 30 minutes). 3. Remove cold gel pack from freezer and place in the stuffed animal or wrap in a towel before applying, to protect the skin from frostbite. Never apply cold therapy longer than 30 minutes at a time. Heating Instructions: Microwave method: 1. Remove Gel Pack from stuffed animal using the opening/closure on the back side of the stuffed animal. 2. Place Gel Pack on a paper towel in the microwave by laying flat or fold in half. 3. Heat at full power (microwave ovens vary, follow recommended heating requirements below). Wattage - heating time: 700 - 1 minute, 15 seconds. 1000 - 1 minute. Note: gel pack must be at room temperature before heating in microwave. Discontinue heating if gel pack expands like a balloon, pack is overheated. 4. Before removing Gel Pack from the microwave, carefully check the gel pack for any sign of possible rupture or leakage. If any leakage is found simply wait for the Gel Pack to cool down before removing and discarding. 5. Carefully check for desired temperature. If Gel Pack is too hot, allow to cool before applying. If Gel Pack is not hot enough, microwave for additional 10 second intervals, until a safe and desired temperature is reached. 6. Knead Gel Pack to distribute heat evenly. 7. Always insert hot Gel Pack into stuffed animal before use or wrap with a towel before applying. Stovetop method: 1. Bring 3 quarts (3.5 liters) of water to a boil. 2. Remove water from heat source. Never immerse gel pack while water is being heated. 3. Remove Gel Pack from the stuffed animal using the opening/closure on the back side of the stuffed animal, then immerse Gel Pack in hot water for 5-7 minutes. 4. Carefully remove the hot Gel Pack from water using kitchen tongs (do not use sharp utensils) and towel dry. 5. Carefully check the Gel Pack for any signs of possible rupture or leakage (discard if pack leaks). 6. Carefully check for desired temperature. If Gel Pack is too hot, allow to cool before applying. Always insert hot gel pack into stuffed animal before use or wrap into a towel before applying. Step 1: open up the closure on the back of the bear. Step 2: insert the folded gel pack into the back of the bear. Step 3: close the opening, knead the gel pack into place. Carefully read all instructions and warnings on gel pack before use. Remove and discard all plastic fasteners and hang tag before giving to child. Medi-Tedi™ bear (without gel pack) can be washed on a delicate setting and cool dry.
