It is normal for carbon dust to appear in your first 3 pitchers or first dispenser. Discard this water or use it to water plants. See user's guide on brita.com for detailed instructions. Easy Setup: Brita Original Filters fits in all Brita Pitchers**. Rinse filter with cold water for 15 seconds prior to setup. 1. Insert your filter into the reservoir. Press firmly for a tight seal. 2. Press and hold the filter life indicator button to reset. 3. Add cold tap water. Discard the first three pitchers or first dispenser of filtered water.
