Add this versatile spice to everything from meat, chicken and fish to soups, stews, stir-fries and vegetables. Turmeric is the rhizome of a plant in the ginger family. At McCormick, we hand-pick the whole turmeric for deep color and flavor. Turmeric powder is often added with cumin, coriander and cayenne in Indian spice blends. It also pairs well with warm spices like cinnamon, black pepper and ginger. Add a pinch of each of these spices along with turmeric to warm non-dairy milk to make golden milk latte, for a feel-good-boost any time of day. Curries, pickles, chow-chow and chutneys all get their rich yellow color from turmeric.
