Cooking instructions: To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking. Stove top: In a saucepan, combine 2 cups water and 1 cup rice (optional: Add 1 tablespoon butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon salt). Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to low, cover tightly and simmer 35-45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Remove from heat and fluff with a fork. Microwave: Combine 2-1/4 cups water and 1 cup rice in a microwave- safe container (optional: Add 1 tablespoon butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon salt). Cover and cook on high (100%) power 5 minutes. Continue to cook on medium (50%) power for 40-45 minutes or until all water is absorbed. Remove from microwave and let stand covered for 5 minutes. Uncover and fluff with a fork. Due to differences in microwave ovens, cooking times may vary.
