There are numerous benefits to quinoa; it is not a true grain, it is actually a plant see, thus making it a gluten-free alternative to traditional grains. Roland Red Quinoa has a pronounced nutty flavor, a rich terracotta color, and a hearty texture that is adaptable for every cuisine and has limitless potential for culinary applications. Our Quinoa comes pre-washed in order to remove the naturally occurring coating known as saponin in order to improve the nutty taste and still maintain the quinoa’s unique texture. Try quinoa toasted, popped, boiled in broth for added flavor, and in both sweet and savory dishes.
Basic Cooking Instructions: 1 cup quinoa. 2 cups water. 1/4 tsp fine sea salt. Bring water & salt to a boil in a saucepan. Add quinoa to saucepan, return to boil, then reduce heat to a gentle simmer. Cook covered for about 15 minutes or until all the liquid is absorbed. You will know the quinoa is done when all the grains have turned translucent & the spiral-like germ become visible. Makes 3 cups. Store in a cool and dry place.
